“The Best Business We Will Do This Summer” – Pundit Reflects On Recent Leeds Decision

|

With Leeds United confirming that manager Marcelo Bielsa will be remaining with us for the coming Championship campaign of 2019/20, there’s plenty of optimism that with the right strengthening over the summer (and less of an injury jinx next season) the Argentine will go one better on last year and gain promotion to the Premier League.

With Leeds running it close in both the automatic run and then Play-Off shot, our inability to make the most of our chances was ultimately our downfall and with both Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe having their season’s interrupted by injury we can all debate how much that affected their own form.

With Bielsa in general getting the best out of players though, former player and BBC pundit Noel Whelan believes that securing the gaffer will be the biggest bit of business we do, and it’s perfectly understandable as to why he holds that view – it’s a view shared by many in the fanbase given the impact our little genius has already had.

“It looks the best business we will do this summer. If you are not going to be spending on players, this looks the best signing we could possibly make. The manager was so important last season. He transformed the team by implementing a fluent and aggressive style that the players bought into, and many of them had the best season of their careers. Mr Bielsa got them organised, drilled and left no stone unturned in terms of preparation and planning. He’s a brilliant manager and we’re lucky to have him.”

As said, difficult to disagree, we just have to ensure we get the captures right and then hit the ground running once again.
