Leeds Word On The Tweet

“That’s embarrassing” – Lots of Leeds fans react to 6 ft 4 Championship star’s Twitter post

Lots of Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media after Brentford defender Pontus Jansson shared a photo of his PFA Team of the Year award on Twitter, after it got damaged.

The towering 6 ft 4 centre-half earned the accolade for his efforts at Elland Road last season, as the Professional Footballers’ Association lauded Jansson for his commanding presence in our backline as we fought to secure promotion into the Premier League.

He moved to fellow Championship side Brentford not long after we lost in the Play-Off Semi-Finals in a deal worth £5.5million plus additional add-ons, and now captains the Bees and is yet to miss a minute of action in the league this term.

Jansson featured in 39 of our regular season fixtures last season, holding down duties in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans as a mainstay of the side with his only absences beyond the opening weeks of the campaign coming as a result of injuries or suspensions.

Do you still regret seeing Jansson leave?

Yes

No

The PFA felt Jansson had been particularly crucial to our superb defensive record in 2018/19, with the 28-year-old noted as having a key role in the club boasting more clean sheets after 44 games than we had in the entire previous season.

No centre-back in the Championship recorded more successful tackles than Jansson managed last term, with the 23-cap Sweden international registering 95 from 119 duels, plus a league-high 90 interceptions.

His PFA Team of the Year trophy has seen better days, it would seem though, as Jansson took to Twitter on Thursday to share an image of it after a leg and head became detached.

Here are some of the messages shared as Leeds fans reacted to Jansson’s post…
