Taylor Slams England Absentees

Steven Taylor, the man who I can only remember for “platoon” style playacting to avoid red cards after deliberate handballs (search Youtube for: Steven Taylor Getting Shot) has ripped into two players who were not available for the European U-21 Championships.

Following England`s marathon penalty shoot out, the Newcastle defender felt the need to have a go at Blackburn`s David Bentley and Aston Villa`s Gabriel Agbonlahor claiming that there is “no bigger honour than representing your country.”

The article, run by the Sun sees fit to have a go at two players who have actually impressed for their representative clubs this season, rather than the likes of Taylor who`s reputation does nothing but to personify the recent plight of the North-East club i.e. trying to act big whilst making themselves look completely stupid. This season, Bentley has continued to impress for the Under 21`s following the end of the season and then had an inspired game against Albania for the England ‘B` team (read: England first team, weakened slightly to get McClaren off the hook.) Agbonlahor finished his club season with a flourish, finishing his first true senior year with 10 goals for a rejuvenated Aston Villa side.

Vital Leeds suggests that Steven Taylor shuts up, and maybe concentrates on his own performances in the future rather than blaming those absent from the squad.
