Leeds Word On The Tweet

‘Start him… I beg’, ‘cracking finish’: How Leeds’ victory over Salford played out on Twitter

A little tougher than I expected, but in the end, we got the job done.

Leeds are through to the second round of the League Cup after a 3-0 victory over League 2 side Salford City. Goals from Eddie Nketiah, Gaetano Berardi and Mateusz Klich saw the Whites safely through a game that was dominated with matters off the pitch rather than on it beforehand.

It took a while for Leeds to get going in the game and there were even a couple of Leeds fans that were getting slightly nervous as the game drew past the half-hour mark.

Almost like a commentators curse though, it was only a matter of minutes before the visitors would get their noses in front, with young debutant Nketiah finishing off a well-worked move.

After that, the Leeds fans were a little bit more relaxed as the visitors grew more and more dominant and they were rewarded less than five minutes after the restart with another goal as Berardi swept home a corner at the near post.

Things were put to bed just before the hour mark with arguably the goal of the night as Klich curled a fantastic effort into the far corner to put the game out of reach for the home side.

Although Salford created a few chances to get back into it, a resilient, if somewhat flamboyant performance from Kiko Casilla in goal ensured things stayed as they were until the final whistle went.
