Former Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City midfielder Ryan Mason has now fully moved into the world of punditry after a head injury brought his playing career to an early end, and he’s raved about Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa recently given the impact the Argentine gaffer has had on us.
With Leeds finishing 13th in the Championship in the season of 2017/18, our rise to the top – and despite wobbles – we are well on track for potential automatic promotion back to the Premier League this season and against the backdrop of minimal spending really, Bielsa has improved everyone in the squad to a man.
For Mason, he believes this transformation should have Bielsa spoken about in the same terms as the media do when it comes to Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino.
Speaking to Sky Sports’ The Debate (5/3 – 10pm) Mason described our turnaround in form this year as ‘incredible’.
“Every circumstance is different. You think of Klopp, Pochettino – these guys have gone into the club and completely transferred the whole football club. They’re in that bracket for totally different reasons. Is Bielsa up there? Yes, of course, it’s incredible, he’s in the Championship with Leeds but from the outside looking at it the change in that football club is incredible.”
Huge praise once again and nice to see another pundit not going for the easy criticism route and harping burn out and the like and simply just appreciating the work that has gone in at Elland Road since the summer.
