Returning Leeds Man Looking To “Redeem” Last Year’s Disappointments

|

With Manchester City winger Jack Harrison’s return being confirmed by Leeds United on Monday, the 22-year-old was saying all the right things as he settles back into life at Elland Road following his summers break.

The attacking midfielder didn’t have a great season when it came to his productivity as only four goals and three assists were returned in his 34 Championship starts, and five substitute showings, but with a year of football under his belt, knowing exactly what manager Marcelo Bielsa wants from him now, plenty of fans are optimistic we’ll see far more from the lad next season.

As he conducted the obligatory media interviews this week, having returned to training in readiness for the season ahead, Harrison made me bones himself about wanting far greater form to make up for the disappointment of missing out on promotion in the manner we did.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

“It’s exciting to be back, the end of last year was disappointing with how it ended, so this year myself and the lads are looking to redeem ourselves and build on last year. I think most people felt that we should have gone up last season, but we are all looking to get back at it now and hopefully we can get the promotion this time around. I’ve definitely learnt a lot in the last 12 months, if you look at my performances throughout the season I think I grew as a player and by the end of the season I was really getting going. I’m looking to use that as a foundation now and build from that going into the new season. It’s been good to see the lads again and I’m looking forward to catching up with them all properly.”

Let’s hope we do go one step further this year as ultimately it’s in our hands.
