Jean Kevin-Augustin has picked up an injury that will see him miss the restart of the 2019/20 Championship campaign.

The 22-year-old has struggled with a hamstring injury since his arrival from the Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig on loan until the end of the season, 11 days before their side’s first game back away to Cardiff City.

Since he arrived at Elland Road, Augustin has only made three appearances as substitutes and racked up a total of just 48 minutes from those outings, with Football Insider suggesting that the Whites’ staff were impressed with what they saw from Augustin during the early stages.

The youngster would have hoped that the temporary suspension of the Championship would have given him time to make extra preparations towards getting his match fitness in check. However,

The Athletic’s Phil Hay delivered the news on Twitter that supporters would have rather not seen.

Although he did not confirm the extent of Augustin’s latest blow, it is still a sucker punch to Marcelo Bielsa and his backroom staff.

Despite his slow start in North Yorkshire, his previous form cannot be ignored. Before making the move to England, he had found the net on 12 occasions during the 2017/18 campaign and added to that with a further eight goals the following year.

Are you worried for Augustin?

Yep! Fearing the worst...

Yep! Fearing the worst...

No, he will be fine.

Hopefully, for his sake, his injury is not as bad as first feared, and that he can be available for the return at some point from now until the end of the season.
