Leeds United have not held talks Lazio about any potential player signings, a report CalcioMercato has claimed.

Recent reports from Italian outlet Il Messaggero had claimed that Leeds had enquired about as many as five Lazio players – with the likes of Luiz Felipe, Jordan Lukaku and even Sergej Milinkovic-Savic all touted as potential targets -, with Lorenzo Tonetti, who works for Football Capital – a company originally founded by Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani – said to have held talks with the Italian giants.

Now however, it appears as though that is not quite the case, with the latest reports from CalcioMercato claiming that they have reached out to Tonetti about those reports.

According to that update, Tonetti has denied those suggestions that the conversations had anything to do with a move to Elland Road for any Lazio players this summer.

Instead, it is reported that the talks held between Tonetti and Lazio were related to a move to the Serie A side for Catania defender Salvatore Simone Pino, who is managed by Football Capital.

In some ways, this will surely be a disappointment for Leeds, given the quality and profile that some of those potential signings would have brought to the club.

However, with the number of players being linked with the club this summer, they were never going to sign every single one of those supposed targets, and the price they would likely have had to pay for some of these players, while already seemingly in talks with a number of other potential signings, means this always felt like something of a long shot.
