Report: Leeds United to terminate nine-year club player’s contract

Leeds United have agreed to terminate the contract of youth midfielder Connor Leak-Blunt, according to Football Insider.

The rising star of our academy has been with the club since the age of eight, but is currently on trial with Premier League side Sheffield United and featured for the Blades’ Under 23s as they faced Wigan Athletic earlier in the week.

An agreement is now claimed to have been reached between Leak-Blunt and the Whites that will see the 17-year-old freed from his three-year contract, which was only signed in July and hoped to be the start of a professional career at Elland Road by the youngster.

Things have not worked out as planned for the Barnsley-born midfielder, as Leak-Blunt has not yet featured for the first-team or been included in one of Marcelo Bielsa’s matchday teamsheets, and now has his eyes fixed on continuing his career away from Thorp Arch.

It is not yet specified if Leak-Blunt is in talks with Sheffield United about a potential deal that will see the nine-year Leeds player join the Blades.

The Bramall Lane native’s U23s are currently two points above the relegation places in the Professional Development League North Division standings, and 11-points behind Carlos Corberan’s Whites.
