Many Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media to reports by The Athletic, which claimed we will not challenge for the signature of Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen in January.
A deal for the Tigers ace has been speculated as United chiefs hold an interest in the 22-year-old’s availability next month, but a move is unlikely at this stage as the club do not have the financial clout to pull of such a deal.
The KCOM Stadium natives are expected to demand around £20million for Bowen if any side wishes to lure him away from Humberside in the winter market, with Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion among the clubs said to be keen.
Should Radrizzani fund a move for Bowen?
Yes, go all out for promotion
Only if the price is right
No, it wouldn't be worth it
Reports elsewhere have suggested the Magpies will not be going through with their interest when the mid-season market opens in a matter of weeks, as the St. James’ Park outfit are convinced they would have little chance of securing Bowen’s services.
It is alleged that Tottenham Hotspur’s scouts have paved the end to the Toon’s pursuit, having convinced head coach Jose Mourinho that a swoop would be worthwhile for the North Londoners having championed Bowen to former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Bowen has been having a tremendous season with Hull this term, hitting 17 goals in all competitions along with three assists, but could do little to prevent the Tigers losing 2-0 at Elland Road earlier this month.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to news that our potential pursuit of Bowen had hit the rocks…
May as well change this to “Leeds will not take part in any kind of battle to sign any players in January” #LUFC #MOT #HCAFC

Good, he was blowing at 60 minutes. If we bought him, he wouldn’t make it out of the U23s.

In other Leeds United news, Marcelo Bielsa could have a rarely-seen first-team star back in his ranks after Christmas.
