Report: Leeds United to rival La Liga teams for 27-y/o defender

|

Leeds United are monitoring Elche full-back Juan Cruz and they could get the player for as little as €4m in the next transfer window.

The left-back has been a key figure for the Spaniards in La Liga 2 this season, contributing with eight assists in 27 games to help Los Franjiverdes to the play-off places before the campaign was halted.

However, Cruz’s long-term future is up in the air, after AS revealed that a host of La Liga sides are keen on the player. They state that Real Betis, Getafe and Mallorca are just some of the clubs in the top-flight that have been impressed by the 27-year-old, whilst they also claim that Victor Orta has been following the player ‘closely’.

And, Cruz could be available for a bargain price, as the report states he has a release clause of just €4m if Elche remain in the second-tier, although that will be doubled if they win promotion, which is still possible. Yet, he is approaching the final year of his contract with the club, so it may be negotiable.

Will Leeds United be playing in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Bringing in a left-back could be a priority for Marcelo Bielsa in the coming window as the Whites have had issues at left-back over the past two years. Barry Douglas hasn’t always convinced and there has been talk that he could move on, with the versatile Stuart Dallas playing that role for much of this season.

If any move does happen, Cruz would hope to be joining a Premier League side, with Leeds United currently seven points clear of third-placed Fulham with just nine games to play.
