Report: Leeds United to rival Italian giants for in-demand 21-y/o

|

Leeds United are interested in San Lorenzo striker Adolfo Gaich, although they will face a battle to land the striker as clubs across the continent chase the player.

The 21-year-old is emerging as a top talent in Argentina, with his impressive form in their top-flight, where Gaich has scored five in 12, catching the eye. That prompted speculation that the youngster could leave in the next transfer window, with West Brom, Atalanta and Inter Milan all said to be monitoring the player, whilst AC Milan have been heavily linked with Gaich in the past.

And, Football Insider have now revealed that the Whites have joined the race for the Argentinian international – who has a £12m release clause. Whilst they claim that the player has previously indicated he would prefer a move to Serie A, the Marcelo Bielsa factor could swing this back in Leeds’ favour. The boss of the Yorkshire outfit is hugely respected in Argentina and has managed the nation in his impressive managerial career in the past.

Will Leeds United be playing in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Either way, it seems that bringing in a new number nine could be on the cards for Leeds if they win promotion and that is understandable. Even though Patrick Bamford plays an important role for the team, his 13 goals in 36 games don’t compare well to others in this league and Jean-Kevin Augustin has yet to make an impact since signing in January, although fitness issues have hindered his progress.

The immediate priority for Leeds will be to win promotion though before they press ahead with any transfer plans, with the team currently seven points clear of third-placed Fulham as they close in on a return to the Premier League.
