Leeds have seen a bid for Fiorentina midfielder Erick Pulgar rejected, a report from a print edition of Italian newspaper La Nazione, via Sport Witness, has claimed.

Pulgar only joined Fiorentina from Serie A rivals Bologna last summer, and enjoyed an impressive debut campaign for his new club, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists in 41 appearances in all competitions, which appears to have caught the attention of the Championship title winners.

According to the latest reports, Leeds have tabled a £10million bid for Pulgar, which has been rejected by Fiorentina, who previously received an approach from West Ham over Pulgar earlier this summer.

It is thought that Leeds’ bid for the 26-year-old was not considered to be enough to tempt Fiorentina to accept the offer, although it has been hinted that that situation could change at some point in the near future.

As a result, it seems that Leeds pursuit of Pulgar may not be over already, but with three years remaining on the player’s contract, his current club are in a strong position to negotiate any offer that comes in for the Chile international.

This is a deal that could be well worth considering for Leeds, who still need to add a midfielder to their side in the current transfer window.

Pulgar’s record for Fiorentina last season does seem to suggest he could provide the attacking spark from deep that Marcelo Bielsa’s side need to be competitive in the top-flight this season.

You do however, wonder impact that could have on the club’s well-publicised pursuit of another Serie A midfielder in the form of Rodrigo De Paul, and it does seem as though Pulgar could be a cheaper alternative, which could make the Fiorentina man a more appealing option for the Whites.
