Leeds have made an offer to Brighton for the signing of defender Haydon Roberts, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

The 18-year-old centre back has made just two senior appearance for Brighton, both of which have come in the League Cup, although it seems as though the teenager is still managing to attract plenty of attention from elsewhere.

According to the latest reports, Leeds have now tabled a six-figure bid for the England youth international, who is now entering the final year of his contract at The AMEX Stadium.

As well as Leeds, Championship duo Derby County and Brentford, and Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, have also been credited with an interest in Roberts recently.

In addition to that, Roberts is said to be highly regarded by Brighton, who apparently view him as a future first-team player, although the defender’s contract situation is seemingly putting them under some pressure with regards to his future.

Leeds have already recruited a vast number of young players for the club this summer, with the likes of Arsenal’s Sam Greenwood, Feyenoord’s Crysencio Summerville and Fulham’s Cody Drameh among a number of player’s to have now linked up with the Whites’ Under 23s side.

As a result, it is perhaps no surprise to see that the Championship title winners are now taking an interest in Roberts.

The level of interest there is in him just goes to show how much potential he has, meaning it could be something of a coup for Leeds to win the race for his signature.

Indeed, following the saga with Ben White earlier in the window, it could rather satisfying for the Leeds to now prise away one of Brighton’s brightest young talents.
