Report: Leeds attracted to versatile 23 y/o midfielder adored around Europe

Leeds United are interested in signing Cagliari Calcio midfielder Nahitan Nandez, according to Calciomercato News.

Nandez joined the Serie A outfit in August for a reported €18million (£15.3m) from Boca Juniors, having agreed to offer the Brazilian club a 10 per cent sell-on clause for any future move as part of his transfer.

The Uruguayan is now considered to be an irreplaceable aspect of Rolando Maran’s side at the Sardegna Arena, after demonstrating immense versatility and creativity from the centre of midfield.

Nandez has made 12 appearances in the Italian top-flight since his summer switch, starting ten, and featured from right-back against Inter Milan earlier in the campaign and assisted his side’s equaliser in the 2-1 defeat.

Inter are now among a clutch of big-hitting European sides thought to be interested in signing Nandez if his services hit the market, with Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Napoli, AS Roma and clubs from Spain mentioned.

We are also touted as a potential suitor alongside Hull City, but would almost certainly have to secure promotion into the Premier League to make a swoop at all possible as Cagliari now value Nandez at €36m (£30.7m).

Cagliari have double their valuation of the 23-year-old as he is seen as one of the most complete midfielders in Europe, and they do not intend to lose his services without a fight.

Would you sign Nandez for €36m if we get promoted?

Yes, absolutely

No, he isn't good enough

Leeds were linked with a move for Nandez earlier in the year while he was still on the books of Boca Juniors, with it suggested that we, Sampdoria and Fiorentina were studying his situation amid Cagliari’s interest.

Nandez recorded five successful tackles in his last Serie A appearance when he started at home to Fiorentina in a 5-1 win, which was the most he had recorded in a single game after penning three against Napoli and two against Torino, Genoa and Parma.

He has also often registered interceptions, clearances and dribbles when played in the Italian top-flight, with the 31-cap Uruguay international beating three players when on the ball against Fiorentina and Parma.

Only twice has the Punta del Este-born midfielder failed to make a key pass, too, and has scored one goal from six shots taken.
