Many Leeds United fans have been lauding Luke Ayling’s goal against Huddersfield Town as ‘one of the best’ following a throwback post by the club on Twitter.
The official Whites account sought to refocus attentions on Ayling’s volley at home to our West Yorkshire rivals during the almost ever-lasting postponement of fixtures, as the derby clash was the only match we played in March.
Ayling’s goal broke the deadlock after just three minutes when he connected wonderfully with Jack Harrison’s cross, rounding off a well-worked team move started by the Manchester City loanee finding Stuart Dallas by the left-hand touchline.
Dallas then played a darting ball forward to Mateusz Klich, who back-heeled possession to Pablo Hernandez before the Spaniard rolled the ball back out wide to Harrison, who drifted forward to the edge of the penalty area unchallenged and was allowed to send a floating delivery over to the inrushing Ayling at the back post.
Jonas Lossl had little to no chance of denying Ayling his second goal in successive matches, and Elland Road went wild celebrating the strike which moved United back above West Bromwich Albion at the top of the Championship standings.
Lots of fans responded to the club’s post by focusing on the length of time that has passed since the match, though many lauded Ayling for his strike that could be argued as the Goal of the Season.
