“Perfect day to announce your return” – Many Leeds fans plead with 5 ft 8 star to “come home”

Many Leeds United fans have been pleading with James Milner to return home, after the Liverpool midfielder shared that it had been 888 weeks since his Premier League debut.

Milner first stepped foot onto the field during a top-flight game when we travelled to West Ham United in November 2002, when Terry Venables handed a then-16-year-old his debut as a late replacement for Jason Wilcox.

The Leeds-born ace would go on to make a further 17 appearances in the Premier League that season, but had to wait until February 2003 for his first start, coming when the Irons visited Elland Road.

Milner would play a total of 50 games for the Whites before joining Newcastle United in 2004, and went on to join Aston Villa and Manchester City before arriving at Liverpool in 2015.

The £140,000-per-week contract he signed at Anfield upon his arrival four years ago is up in the summer, though, and while Milner is keen to stay on Merseyside beyond the end of the season, head coach Jurgen Klopp is calm over offering the 33-year-old a new deal.

Milner won two Premier League crowns during his career with Man City along with an FA Cup and EFL Cup, while helping Liverpool to clinch the Champions League last season.

Should Leeds try and re-sign Milner?
