Opinion: The one man who Leeds United simply have to keep quiet this weekend

|

Leeds fans have got a lot going for them at the moment. The Championship side are currently sitting 3rd in the table as they chase promotion to the Premier League on 28 points. However, as they’re tied with both Preston and Swansea on points, and with Nottingham Forest three points behind with a game in hand, they simply cannot let up.

The Whites face Blackburn this weekend, and with the Rovers failing to do quite what Leeds have done with their start to the season as they sit 16th and have ten points fewer than Leeds, it’s a game that, on paper, the home side should be winning this weekend.

However, it will certainly be easier said than done for Marcelo Bielsa’s side to do that, and you simply cannot rule out the travelling supporters going away celebrating a shock win, especially if they can get the key man, Bradley Dack, into the game.

The midfielder is one of Blackburn’s stars and Leeds will have to be at their very best if they want to keep him quiet. So far this season his numbers have been absolutely sublime, as he’s already bagged five goals and one assist from 15 games in the Championship.

However, looking deeper into the 25-year-old and his numbers are incredible. As well as being the top scorer for the club in the Championship, he’s also averaging more shots per game than any of his teammates, sits 4th on the list for key passes per game and is second behind Greg Cunningham as their most fouled player (WhoScored).

As good as the midfielder he is, he’ll be up against it at Elland Road. Kalvin Phillips will be the man tasked with keeping him at bay seeing as he’s Bielsa’s go-to midfield man in front of the back four, and Phillips is one hell of a player who’s more than capable of keeping even the Championship’s best at bay.
