Opinion: It’s high time that Marcelo Bielsa gave impressive Leeds man a start

|

Leeds go into the weekend top of the Championship, but they may not end it there, as their clash this weekend is against second-placed Swansea City. Marcelo Bielsa’s side have home advantage, but they need to make the most of it and start their best side.

With that in mind, it could be time for Eddie Nketiah to be given a start at Elland Road in the Championship, seeing as he’s already bagged his first three goals for the club across his four games, with two of those coming as starts in the Carabao Cup.

The Arsenal loanee has shown that he knows where the goal is, and he looks like a classic centre-forward, being in the right place at the right time and getting on the end of the sublime service that the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Mateusz Klich and Jack Harrison provide.

In just 29 minutes of Championship action so far this season, Nketiah has already bagged his first goal in the second tier of English football, and it looks like he could be set to start this weekend, be it alone ahead of Patrick Bamford or alongside the former Chelsea man.

At the age of just 20-years-old, it is crucial that Bielsa looks after the young striker, but with Swansea travelling to Yorkshire in the biggest game that Leeds have faced in the Championship this season, you have to play your big players in big games, and Nketiah is one of those.

Wales Online revealed at the start of the month that Swansea were interested in signing Nketiah for the season, but now that he’s found a home at Elland Road it’s about time that he starts a Championship game, and where better to start than this weekend against Swansea.
