“Offers something different” – Many Leeds fans urge Orta to bolster Bielsa’s ranks

|

Many Leeds United fans have been urging Director of Football Victor Orta to bolster Marcelo Bielsa’s ranks in the January market, by naming the striker they would like to see arrive at Elland Road this month.

Whites boss Bielsa is down to one proven senior striker in Patrick Bamford following Arsenal’s decision to recall Eddie Nketiah, and lots of supporters seemingly feel the Argentine will require another centre-forward in our quest to secure promotion out of the Championship.

Southampton striker Che Adams has emerged as a strong contender to move to West Yorkshire this month, having struggled at St. Mary’s Stadium since his £15million summer switch from Birmingham City.

We have reportedly lodged an official loan approach for the 23-year-old, who has failed to score in any of his 17 appearances for the Saints across all competitions, but was prolific in the second-tier last season with 22 goals in 46 games.

Saints head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has effectively ruled out allowing Adams to leave the south coast in January over fears his squad cannot cope without the 5 ft 10 attacker.

Adams is not the only striker that Leeds fans would welcome to Elland Road this month, though, with shouts for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Glenn Murray, Queens Park Rangers’ Nahki Wells, Birmingham’s Lukas Jutkiewicz, and even Chelsea’s Oliver Giroud.

Murray has started just three of 21 available Premier League games under Graham Potter this season and is yet to score in the top-flight, while Giroud has opened two of his five top-flight appearances for the Blues under Frank Lampard and is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans named the striker they want the club to sign in the January market…

In other Leeds United news, a 28-year-old Whites star has been forced to issue an apology for his actions during a recent Championship fixture.
