“No Point Keeping Him” – Pundit Has His Say On Goalkeeper Speculation At Leeds

|

One rumour on the mill that is now feeding itself when it comes to Leeds United is ongoing speculation about the future of January capture Kiko Casilla.

Having come in as Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s replacement with experience being an issue for many after our Academy graduate made some high profile errors in the first half of the year, despite mainly doing his job as we battled for promotion, Casilla ended the campaign with plenty of flack of his own given positional problems and rushes of blood that ultimately helped cost us a second bite of the promotion cherry via the Wembley Play-Off route.

Has Leeds International Put Himself In The Shop Window, Or Is He Simply Trying To Remind Fans What He Can Do

Given that criticism within the fanbase, and no doubt boosted by BPF’s own recent interview, former player and BBC pundit Noel Whelan used his Football Insider outlet to state his belief that Casilla was definitely unhappy at the club, and hadn’t settled and that he would return to Spain before the closure of the transfer window.

“Casilla is on big money and it, if he’s not happy, there is no point keeping him. He will go now, I’m sure of that. You cannot get the best out of a player who doesn’t want to be at your football club and, in those circumstances, it’s best to let him go. It’s best just to agree a deal that suits all parties, make sure Leeds don’t lose out financially, and move on.”

I imagine plenty won’t disagree with his summation but all the claims do nobody any good in reality as they are all based on assumptions and not facts, and as we move towards 2019/10 and hopefully going one step further, we don’t need these distractions.
