News: Leeds could be dealt a hammer blow with recall of loan star

|

Reports have emerged that Arsenal want to bring Eddie Nketiah back from his loan at Elland Road due to a lack of starts.

The 20-year-old has managed to make eight appearances for the Whites this season, but all, bar two, have come from the bench.

Despite this he has still chipped in with four goals.

Two in the league and two in the Carabao Cup.

There are rumours that Bristol City want to take Nketiah on loan in January with the promise of regular first-team football and Arsenal are apparently seriously considering taking Nketiah back.

However, Nketiah’s situation is nowhere near as bad as Jack Clarke’s.

The 18-year-old winger, who is on a season-long loan from Arsenal’s bitter rivals Spurs, has made two appearances all season and has barely made the matchday squad due to loan restrictions in the Championship.

Arsenal should, therefore, be sensible about Nketiah’s situation and leave him at Elland Road for the rest of the season.

Working under Marcelo Bielsa, it is hard to see how he will not improve as a player, and he has already proven that he can score vital goals for Leeds this season – with two match-winning goals from off the bench.

Arsenal highly rate the 20-year-old, and they want him to be playing as much as possible, but recalling Nketiah would be a mistake.

He should remain at Leeds for the entire season to continue his development under a world-class manager.
