Stoke Analytics have analysed every Championship team’s season so far in stats, and they have revealed that Leeds United are perfect at all aspects of the game – apart from finishing.
This should not come as a surprise as Leeds have struggled to kill teams off all season and have only scored more than one goal on four occasions.
If we look at the stats in detail, we can see that Leeds are almost identical to last season in all parts of the game, but crucially they are well under their expected goals per game ratio.
Looking at the stats, the Whites are expected to score 1.36 goals per match but are currently -0.75 below that figure.
This is the evidence to confirm that Leeds, despite dominating possession having more touches in the opposition box and conceding the least shots, struggle to win games comfortably because they simply cannot put the ball in the back of the net.
This is why they sit in fifth, and nine teams have scored more than them.
Defensively they have conceded the least goals and also the least shots on goal, but they just cannot seem to find a way to finish games off.
The stats prove that Marcelo Bielsa’s men are perfect in their game until it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net.
Leeds must find a way to rectify this problem, or they will be exiled from the Premier League for at least another year.
