News: Exciting Leeds United prospect keeps up his goalscoring form

|

Leeds United’s Eddie Nketiah was the pick of the Whites’ players on international duty this week – as the on-loan Arsenal starlet bagged his fifth goal in just seven games for England’s-Under 21s.

The 20-year-old was fouled in the box and took the responsibility himself to coolly slot away a penalty into the bottom right corner of the net.

This was Nketiah’s seventh goal of the season for both club and country, and he will hope that this goal will convince Marcelo Bielsa to give him his first Championship start of the season.

Nketiah is Leeds’ joint top scorer with four in all competitions but has not yet started a league game – with Bielsa preferring to use the Arsenal man from off the bench.

For Wales, Tyler Roberts was introduced as a late substitute in what was only his third appearance of the season – as he looks to recover from a knee injury suffered towards the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

Roberts is apparently going to play a vital role for Leeds this season as the 20-year-old is versatile, and Bielsa sees him featuring in the attacking midfield role.

So, a few more minutes in the tank can only improve Roberts’ chances of playing in the match against Birmingham City on Saturday.

Both Nketiah and Roberts are exciting players, and their international performances could see them be in contention for a start in Leeds’ centenary game.
