News: 33-year-old Leeds-born midfielder states that he wants to end his career at Elland Road

James Milner is about to release a book, and in it, there are some fascinating quotes on a potential return to Leeds United.

The 33-year-old states that

To go back and play for my hometown club would be amazing in so many different ways.”

Milner, of course, started his career as a winger at Elland Road and managed five goals and one assist before a move to Newcastle United – after his beloved Whites were relegated in 2004 and have not returned to the Premier League since.

The former Aston Villa man, though, is desperate to see Leeds back in the top-flight.

When I see the atmosphere and hear the crowd, it makes me proud. You get a real feeling of how desperate everyone is for the club to get back to the Premier League, where it belongs.”

However, Milner admitted that any move back to Elland Road would not just be down to him and that it would have to suit Leeds as well.

It would be pointless for me and Leeds if it was just some sort of nostalgia trip.”

Milner is clearly keen on returning to his boyhood club, but when will that realistically happen?

So far, this season, the 33-year-old has made ten appearances scored three goals and provided three assists – he is still performing at the top of his game, and it could be another two to three years before Liverpool decide to release him.

At that point, would Leeds still want him as an asset, or would it just be a nostalgia trip? It is hard to know, but what is clear is that Milner would love to end his career back at Elland Road.
