With the arrival of Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Barry Douglas the other day, the Leeds United rumour mill has sparked into life this weekend.

We’re aren’t talking about a potential incoming here, those links continue to rumble on, this rumour concerns the departure of former Club Brugge player Laurens De Bock.

The 25-year-old made the move to Elland Road back in the last January window for an undisclosed fee, but commonly reported as being around the £1.5million mark. The Belgian went on to only make seven appearances for Leeds in the second half of last season and it’s fair to say he didn’t really begin to win fans over – but few did given the 2017/18 campaign we had.

The Sun on Sunday (page 63) reported that Joey Barton had expressed an interest in taking the player to Fleetwood Town as he gears up for his maiden season in management and that manager Marcelo Bielsa was prepared to let him go on a temporary basis this summer.

Such was his impact last season, whilst a number of fans think the loan spell could be good for us down the line – if only getting the player back into some form for a sale – there was suggestion that a fan would ‘drive him there’ such was his own impressions of the man in his showings so far.

A loan could be in the best interests of all parties though. Games and form might see him get a better second shot to life at the club before we decide whether to cut our losses or not.
