‘New contract?’ – These Leeds fans respond to striker’s Instagram post

Leeds forward Kemar Roofe has United fans talking on social media, after posting a photo on Instagram looking back at the Whites’ pre-season tour of Australia.

Walsall-born Roofe was an unfortunate casualty of the trip down under, as the 26-year-old was caught inside the box by Western Sydney Wanderers’ defender Tass Mourdoukoutas during a goalmouth scramble just before the hour mark.

The Whites’ 2018/19 Championship top goalscorer attempted to carry on following the blow, but the risk of a lengthy absence was too severe, leaving Marcelo Bielsa forced to make an unscheduled substitution.

Leeds have since confirmed the severity of the injury is not as bad as first feared, and, despite being pictured in a protective boot, Roofe will miss the next four weeks – ruling him out of our opening games against Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, Salford City and Wigan Athletic.

Roofe suffered two lengthy injuries in the recent term, with a calf strain sustained in training in September keeping him on the sidelines for six matches, before knee ligament damage in our 2-1 win over Swansea City could have brought a halt to his season in February.

The uncapped Jamaica international, who scored 15 goals in 33 second-tier fixtures in 2018/19, now has fans reacting online to his post on Instagram, where he looked back at the pre-season tour of Australia.

Roofe captioned the post: “If you don’t believe the process…. you have already lost.”

Some of the Whites supporters responding to his words suggested they were in reference to his potential injury, while others considered it as a sign of Bielsa’s philosophies rubbing off on the 26-year-old.

Roofe has also entered the final year of his Elland Road contract, but Director of Football Victor Orta has shared his confidence in a deal being reached with the striker pushing for a wage inline with Patrick Bamford and Kiko Casilla, who earn sums in the region of £30k to £40,000-a-week.

Here’s what these Leeds fans had to say in reply to Roofe’s post…
