My first visit to Elland Road

Regular Vital Leeds contributor Emz57 finally went to Elland Road for the first time on Saturday for the final game of the season against Northampton.

Along with her for the thrill was fellow Vital Leeds member and husband 8ballali.
Yesterday I finally got to go and see Leeds play for the first time and at Elland Road.
What a day, when we got there I made sure I had a look at the statue of King Billy, then took a good look at the outside of Elland Road.

It was unbelievable to think that in just a few minutes I would be going in to see Leeds United play. To actually see them play was incredible they played so well. The little passes and flicks that they do, you don’t get to appreciate until you’re there. You could tell that they weren’t just out there playing a match they were playing for us. It wasn’t just the fans cheering them on, the lads were out there trying to earn them cheers.

To actually go there and sing marching on together with thousands of other Leeds fans makes you remember that pride all over again. It makes you realise that it’s not just a football team it’s LEEDS UNITED out there.

I can remember sitting there and wondering what the time was. I looked at my watch and 30 minutes had gone by already, it barely seemed like it had been 10!! I remember looking round Elland Road as I sat there and the place is just awesome!!

Plus I got to meet Brighouse and get my little boy his first Leeds kit for his birthday. I got me and Ali a mug each as after buying Kai the latest kit there weren’t many pennies left, but still they’re from the day I went to Elland Road so they’re a lot more than just mugs! I’ve still got our tickets which I’m going to frame. I also have a programme too. I’m still smiling now.

Both Parker and Marques played a great game yesterday but then the lads played really well as a team and were fantastic to watch. I was glad to see Grayson take Beckford off as we’re going to need him for the play offs and don’t want to risk injury. Grella played well but would’ve liked to have seen him brought on at the beginning of he second half.

When I got back my 6 year old daughter couldn’t wait to hear about Elland Road and was so pleased with her funny hat with the bells on. I got one for my 2 year old daughter too and she goes round telling everyone it’s her Leeds hat!!

Thanks to Emz for her in sight into what will probably be the first of many visits, it looks like the bug that`s gripped us all as claimed another victim.
