Leeds United head coach Garry Monk was left disappointed after seeing his side slip to a 1-0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers and drop out of the play-off places for the first time since November.

Nouha Dicko scored the only goal of the game for Wolves just eight minutes before the break to inflict a third defeat on Leeds in April and they have now picked up just four points from their five games this month.

The defeat at Elland Road, only a second defeat at home since November, sees Leeds slip to seventh in the Championship with just three games remaining but Monk says the side are still in a good position and must now hunt down the teams in the top six.

‘We’re disappointed with that result,” Monk told the BBC.

‘We didn’t want that to happen at this stage of the season but we’ve had the mentality for so long where we’ve been in the play-offs quite comfortably and have kind of been in that protective mode of trying to stay in there.

‘Now we have to change that mentality to be a team that goes on the hunt and lets it all go.

‘It’s still a really good situation for us. We’ve got no time to feel sorry for ourselves, that doesn’t get you anywhere.’

Leeds owed much to goalkeeper Rob Green once again as he kept Leeds in the game in the first half as he denied Andreas Weimann and Dave Edwards but he could do nothing with Dicko`s effort across his goal.

Souleymane Doukara and Kemar Roofe both had late chances to rescue something for Leeds but they struggled to muster a serious chance on the Wolves goal.

Leeds must now go to struggling Burton Albion on Saturday knowing they need a win. Burton will be looking to win to secure their Championship safety after they enjoyed a 2-0 win at Birmingham City on Monday.
