McKennie deal confirmed by Fabrizio Romano

Well-trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the deal for Weston McKennie from Juventus to Leeds.

Leeds United and the Italian giants had been locked in negotiations for the last few days, with fears the deal was about to collapse. It is believed the agreement met complications over the fee and the loan-to-buy option included in the transfer. It now appears all has been resolved and the 24-year-old is currently set to finalise the deal with a medical scheduled in the coming days.

According to Romano, the deal is set as a €1.2m loan fee with a total fee of €33m plus add-ons as buy option and all personal terms have been agreed. Weston McKennie will travel to England in the next 24h to undergo medical tests and sign the contract as new Leeds Utd player.

McKennie is set to be Jesse Marsch’s third signing of the January transfer window after the signings of Maximilian Wober and Georginio Rutter with more deals set to be completed in the next few days. Leeds are rumoured to be close to sealing a deal for Servette defender Diogo Monteiro and could complete the transfer this weekend.

Jesse Marsch will be hoping to tie up any deals before Tuesday’s 11 pm deadline as he prepares his side for the second half of the season. Marsch took his side into the fifth round of the FA Cup today for the first time in seven years as his side beat League One opposition, Accrington Stanley 3-1 with goals from Jack Harrison, Luis Sinisterra and Junior Firpo.
