Marcelo Bielsa delivers update that will delight Leeds fans

|

Leeds supporters may have feared the worst when Patrick Bamford was forced off against Bristol City on Saturday, but Marcelo Bielsa has delivered some great news on the forward, per the Yorkshire Evening Post.

There were concerns when the striker had to be substituted that he had aggravated the knee injury that kept him out of action for much of the season, which would have left Bielsa with only Tyler Roberts as a possible striker.

Luckily, the collision with the post at the weekend has not re-injured Bamford’s knee and the striker was able to take part in first-team training on Monday after passing a fitness test.

Our manager will still be without top-goalscorer Kemar Roofe until at least April as he continues his rehabilitation from knee ligament damage, but he will not be without Kalvin Phillips.

Like Bamford, the midfielder developed an injury in the win at Ashton Gate, although he was able to see out the second half with a twisted ankle, which he luckily has not felt any after effects from.

The pair will now play a starting role in our trip to Reading on Tuesday night, with Bielsa once again naming an unchanged XI in the quest to move top of the Championship before Norwich play Hull on Wednesday.
