Following yesterday’s news regarding the departure of Yosuke Ideguchi, there’s set to be another departure from Elland Road in the upcoming days. However, this departure doesn’t come from the dressing room, the dugout or indeed, the boardroom, but instead the press box.
Phil Hay has left the Yorkshire Evening Post after 13 years with the publication. Having covered the club for 13 years, he’s decided that now is the time to move on and try something new
In a farewell article he talked about his time in Yorkshire, and what covering the club through their ups and downs has meant to him, and what a fascinating job it was to cover them during both.
In response to his article, Leeds fans took to social media to praise Phil for his thirteen years of service in covering the team, with every single one of them wishing him all the best and some going so far as to say that watching Leeds won’t be the same without him.
Whilst most people will get their news from social media and online sources (not that there’s anything wrong with that), it’s good to see that people still respect and get enjoyment out of reading things from a more traditional perspective in the form of their local newspaper.
Magnificent. Love the way you captured how Leeds gets under one’s skin. I often wish it didn’t to be honest as it’d be so much easier not to care! ????
