Vital Leeds looks at the head to head record against West Ham United at Upton Park with Leeds United travelling to the capital this weekend.
Sunday will see the fifty-third meeting between the two with West Ham having the advantage. The Hammers have won 20, Leeds 14 and 18 have been drawn.
The first ever encounter took place on February 5th 1921 in a Second Division clash when West Ham enjoyed a 3-0 win.
The following four meetings were all drawn and West Ham remained unbeaten in the first twenty meeting, winning 13 and drawing 7.
Leeds finally broke their duck on 6th December 1958 when goals from Jack Overfield a Chris Crowe penalty and an own goal, secured a 3-2 win.
Leeds have a good recent history and they are unbeaten in their last six visits. They have also lost on just one occasion in their last thirteen visits to Upton Park.
The last time the two sides clashed was during the 2004/05 season when they shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
Luke Chadwick gave the Hammers the lead in the 50th minute only for Leeds to equalise from the penalty spot in the final minute through David Healy.
There have been some high scoring wins, West Ham have won 8-2 (1928/29) and 7-0 (1966/67).
Leeds best win came in the 1998/99 season when goals from Alan Smith, Lee Bowyer, Alfe Inge Haaland, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and an Ian Harte penalty secured a 5-1 win.
Memory match
There was a seven-goal thriller during the 2002/03 season in front of the live Sky TV cameras, with Leeds eventually winning 4-3.
Leeds took an 11th lead through Nicky Barmby but West Ham were soon level when Paolo Di Canio equalised on 19 minutes.
Leeds stormed into 4-1 half time lead thanks to goals from Harry Kewell (27 & 40 minutes) and Mark Viduka in injury time.
Di Canio pulled a goal back in the 48th minute from the penalty spot and Leeds were given an uncomfortable finish to the game when Trevor Sinclair made it 3-4 in the 74th minute.
