Leeds United boss Neil Warnock admitted that the side were well beaten at Barnsley.

Leeds lost to two second half goals at Barnsley, but the game could have been quite easily all over as a contest in the first half as a string of good saves by Paddy Kenny and the woodwork denied the home side.

Barnsley started the day bottom of the league, without a manager, without a home league win since the beginning of September and having not kept a clean sheet in their previous fifteen games.

Barnsley were in control of the game from the first minute, with Leeds poor away form continuing to ruin any chance of a play-off push in the second half of the season.

Warnock admitted his side were never at the races in a one sided game that saw Leeds fail to have a shot on target or even a corner in 90 minutes.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, “We were never at the races and they were up for it with it being a derby game.

“We were non-existent in midfield in the first half. I thought we started the second half ok. We made a couple of changes and we had a few chances, something we didn`t have in the first half.

“They should have been out of sight in the first half. They were more up for it and we were being caught and were sloppy in midfield. We owed a lot to the defence who kept us in it.

“We were well beaten in the end.”

Leeds have now picked up just six points from their last ten games on the road and they have won just one of these.

The defeat at Barnsley sees Leeds slip to eleventh in the championship and they are now five points off the play-off places.
