LUFC Leeds Fans View v Barnsley

Once again I was in attendance at another totally abject away Leeds performance and I give my views on the player`s performance.

Kenny 5

For the second away game in a row, without him it could have been a lot more. He kept us in it during the first half with three or four really good saves.

Byram 1
In the last few games he hasn`t looked like the player we have been really impressed with this season. He was again given a hard time down the right and was naïve for the penalty.

Tate 0
He waddles like a duck and he runs like a goose. He looked decent for a couple of games when he first arrived. Time to go back to Swansea

Pearce 2
The one defender who kept us in the game. He was nowhere near Dagnall for their second goal though.

Peltier 0
A zero is generous. He is supposed to be the captain and lead by example. He does none of this and he is a shocking defender. A total air-shot when attempting one clearance in the first half sums up his performances since he arrived in the summer. I couldn`t believe what I heard on the way home when Neil Warnock was asked why he keeps playing him at left back, ‘he is apparently the best left back at the club`. If that is true then Aidy White and Adam Drury need to retire.

Austin 0
Austin epitomises what is going wrong at the club at the moment. When he arrived in the summer, he was everything Leeds fans demanded in a player. He would be strong in the tackle and run through brick walls for the club. Where has he gone?

Norris 0
Rightly substituted at half time. The game passed him by and he was never near the action.

Barkley 5
The only positive on a very disappointing day. He was the one bright spark who tried to do something. He sometimes lost the ball but with little options around him, there was no one wanting the ball. Very unlucky not to score when he hit the underside of the bar.

Becchio 0
Warnock said his head was elsewhere after the game. If he was referring to interest from Premier League clubs. If they sent scouts on Saturday, they will quickly be scrubbing him off their wish list.

Diouf 3
Why was he taken off at half time? He was the only player trying to get the ball down and do something with it.

Tonge 0
We have waited two weeks to get him back!! Have we really given this player a two and a half year deal? More deadwood already at the club but we could have told Warnock this during his loan spell.

Subs

Green 0

He never got into the game as the midfield continued to struggle.

McCormack 3
He did give us some pace and he tried to get going, but why are we playing him wide on the left?

Summary

I have made my feeling quite clear in my previous article, ‘Can it get any worse.`

The only thing I can really add on here is – As a Leeds fan we first and foremost request a few things and that is desire, passion and commitment. Andy Hughes proved in the past that a lack of ability (something he admitted himself), will always be given a chance by the Leeds fans if they try their hardest for the club.

I have always associated a Neil Warnock side as hard working and fully committed. At the moment, we are seeing none of this from the players. I do think we have players capable. As I have said above, what has happened to Rodolph Austin? This really does epitomise what is wrong at the moment.

Another very long day going away and watching Leeds. I cannot believe I am going back for more at Birmingham City on Tuesday night. I keep saying to myself, ‘surely it can only get better?` – It can can`t it!?
