Leeds United boss Neil Warnock said he was disappointed to come away with nothing after losing for the first time in four games at Derby County.
Derby claimed the three points with a 3-1 win at Pride Park, in a game that took Leeds until nearly half time to get going in.
Warnock felt the side were poor in the opening half hour but after that dominated proceedings and should have taken the three points.
Speaking on LUTV, Warnock said, “I was disappointed with the first half. I thought we were poor in the first half hour.
“When we got the equaliser just before half time, it gave us a lift and in the second half we dominated proceedings. To say I am disappointed to not win the game is an understatement.”
Leeds had trailed for most of the first half after youngster Will Hughes ran at the Leeds defence before setting up Connor Sammon who beat Lee Peltier far too easily in the Leeds defence and his scuffed shot wrong footed Paddy Kenny in the Leeds goal.
The whites rarely threatened in a first half dominated by Derby, Ross McCormack had Leeds only decent chance but his free kick went harmlessly over the crossbar.
Leeds managed to get on level terms just before the break when Luciano Becchio, who worked tirelessly upfront, headed down for Paul Green and he placed his shot past Adam Legzdins to score on his return to his former club.
The goal did lift Leeds at the start of the second half and Ryan Hall came within a whisker of putting them ahead when Michael Jacobs somehow kept his goal bound effort out with an acrobatic clearance off the line.
Derby youngster Will Hughes continued to be a thorn in the Leeds side for Derby. The 17 year old waltzed his way through the Leeds defence, forcing Paddy Kenny into a great reflex save.
The hosts went ahead for a second time when a deep cross into the Leeds penalty area was inexplicably headed back into the danger area by Becchio and Richard Keogh saw his shot turned in by Jake Buxton from close range.
Leeds went searching for a second equaliser, David Norris seeing his fierce volley kept out by Legzdins and then Tom Lees went even closer when his header hit the inside of the post before being hacked away off the line.
El Hadji Diouf gave Leeds a bit more impetus when he came on for the final fifteen minutes and he came close to equalising when his fierce shot went wide of the post.
With Leeds looking for an equaliser deep into stoppage time, sloppy play by Peltier gave the ball away to Derby and Ben Davies beat Kenny from just inside the area to secure the points for the hosts.
It was a disappointed end to Leeds best run of three straight wins for the first time in two years.
Despite the defeat and dropping three places to fourteenth in the championship, they remain just four points adrift of the play off places after another mixed day of results in the championship.
