Leeds United boss Neil Warnock was left infuriated after Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick picked up just a yellow card for what he called a career threatening challenge on Ryan Hall in the defeat at Derby County on Saturday.
Hendrick picked up his yellow card for the challenge of Hall in the 35th minute of the game after lunging in on the Leeds winger and Warnock felt it was a horrendous challenge worthy of a straight red card.
Speaking on LUTV, Warnock said, “I thought Hendrick should have got sent off in the first half it was a horrendous challenge on Ryan Hall.”
The foul in front of the bench of both sides resulted in just a yellow card for Hendrick by referee Scott Mathieson and Warnock felt it was far worse than the incidents that have seen two of his players receive straight red cards recently. “When you look at how Jason Pearce was sent off a few weeks ago and Luke Varney, they were timid in comparison with that challenge, which was a career threatening challenge,” continued Warnock.
The decision could have been a huge changing point in the game with Derby holding a slender one-goal lead at the time of the incident.
Leeds did equalise just before half time through Paul Green but Derby ran out 3-1 winners, ending a run of three straight wins for Warnock`s side.
