Neil Warnock was delighted with the response of his players after coming away from Millwall with all three points in a 1-0 win.

Leeds went into the game on the back of the humiliating defeat to Nottingham Forest in midweek and Warnock was critical of some of the player`s performances.

Warnock told his players he would not accept anything less than 100%, something he thought he got at Millwall.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, “I said to them before the game, ‘I don`t want anyone coming off today knowing they could give more`. I thought there were four or five lads the other night who were far away from giving 100%.

“If we had got beat today I wouldn`t have complained because they gave everything. That is what you have to do for Leeds. The fans are unbelievable and if you give everything, they will give you a bit of leeway.

“I thought before the game, we would not get a tougher physical game for the rest of the season and if we didn`t stand up and be counted we would get turned over, so I was really pleased with how they responded.

“I thought we had to compete first and foremost. If you do not then you get turned over here and we did compete.

“I thought in the end in the second half we deserved it.

“I couldn`t ask anymore today, I thought they gave absolutely everything. As a manager that is all you can ask for.”

The win moves Leeds back to within three points of the play-off places before the Birmingham City v Cardiff City game today and the manager is now looking forward to a break in midweek before entertaining Watford on Saturday.

Leeds have already played seven games in Warnock`s first month in charge and have another seven games to come in the final four weeks of the season as they try to make a late push for the play-offs. “We need a break. We have had some tough games. I thought the Forest game came too soon after putting so much into the West Ham game,”added Warnock.
