Leeds United will be without captain Liam Cooper for the trip to Reading on Saturday.

Cooper suffered a dead leg in the midweek defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers and head coach Paul Heckingbottom admits he will be without his captain for the trip to the Madejski Stadium.

Matthew Pennington is expected to partner Pontus Jansson at the heart of the Leeds defence in Cooper`s absence.

Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is set to return to training today and Heckingbottom must decide whether to stick with youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell or recall Lonergan.

Peacock-Farrell made his first start in two-years for Leeds against Wolves and he impressed despite the 3-0 defeat.

Pablo Hernandez is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up. The Spaniard returned from injury with a substitute`s appearance against Wolves.

Ezgjan Alioski and Ronaldo Vieira are also pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after being named amongst the substitutes in midweek.

Luke Ayling, Conor Shaughnessy and Tyler Roberts all remain long-term absentees for Leeds.

Reading have been dealt a huge blow with the news that Garath McCleary will miss the remainder of the season.

McCleary broke his ankle in the defeat to Sheffield United last week.

Omar Richards has also been added to the injury list at Reading with the defender suffering a calf injury in training prior to the postponed game at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

Joe Swift is pushing for a start after coming off the bench in the midweek draw with Bolton Wanderers.

Joseph Mendes and Callum Harriott returned from long-term injuries with game time in the development squad game against Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday.

Tommy Elphick, Paul McShane, Jordan Obita, Yann Kermorgant and Stephen Quinn are all sidelined through injury for the royals.
