Leeds United left back Ben Parker is happy with how the pre season is going so far and thinks the fact Leeds are playing some high profile friendlies is incentive enough to get the team ready for the new season.

Leeds travel to Championship side Newcastle United tonight on the back of a great performance against Premiership Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, they finish their pre season campaign on Saturday against another Premiership club Burnley.

Parker who became a regular under boss Simon Grayson in the second half of last season believes the opportunity to play against these teams and travel to their stadiums is an incentive to help them get promoted this season because the players can see what they are missing out on.

Although they regularly play in front of 20,000+ fans at Elland Road the opportunity to do it on a regular basis away in League One is very limited.

Speaking on the official website Parker said “We`re looking forward to going to Newcastle and playing in a big stadium. Playing these teams gives you that added incentive and what it`s like to play at a higher level”.

Leeds will be hoping to build on their performance against Blackburn on Saturday when they was unlucky not to win as they get themselves all set for the opening weekend of the season on August 8th against Exeter City.
