LUFC Opposition fans view v Burnley

Vital Leeds got in contact with Vital Burnley contributor Grimsby Claret and we got his thoughts on his day at Elland Road on Saturday as well as his views on the Leeds players.

I arrived at Elland road two hours before the game, thousands of fans were milling around the ground giving indication it was going to be a big crowd.

We sat on the steps of the Billy Bremner statue, saw Leeds fans with names like Revie , Bremner, and others from the great Leeds side of the seventies. We took our place with the 2,000 other Burnley fans behind the goal in the cheese wedge corner.
The old songs from seventies were amplified over the pa system ‘His hair is red and fuzzy and his bodies black and blue he plays for Leeds Utd ? glory glory Leeds Utd` etc?etc? But the Burnley fans were in full voice and from where I was sitting and watching the highlights; we made plenty noise to support the Clarets. Our team were not on form today and this inconsistency has let us down so many times this season.
Leeds played better and could and should have got a second, which would have made it more enjoyable for you Leeds fans.

Having said that we should have had a penalty, we were sat very close to the foul where Andy O’Brien climbed over the back of Chris Iwelumo. Kasper Schmeichel was then at his best to smother Burnley skipper Michael Duff’s angled shot, but it was a clear penalty anyway

At one point it was like watching Barcelona v real Madrid, in that the game exploded, as a high challenge by Chris McCann on Gradel sparked a mass bout of pushing and shoving.
We nearly sneaked a draw at the death
Schmeichel turned a Ross Wallace free kick over the bar and there was an almighty goalmouth scramble but we could not get the ball in the net.

But well played to Leeds.
