Leeds United have announced their first pre season friendly of the summer ahead of the 2011/2012 season.

Leeds will face Premier League side Newcastle United at Elland Road over the weekend of July 30th and 31st.

The club broke the news in the match day programme against Burnley on Saturday.

The game could possibly see former Leeds United player Alan Smith make his first return to Elland Road since leaving in the summer of 2004.

Leeds faced Smith and Newcastle at St James Park in pre season in 2009 with the sides sharing a goalless draw.

With the season almost over Leeds fans will be looking forward to the rest of the pre season being announced, which will hopefully include at least one game on foreign soil.

Leeds enjoyed games in both Slovakia and Norway last summer as they geared themselves up for their return to the Championship.
