*On this day in 1966, Leeds beat Real Zaragoza 2-1 at Elland Road in the Inter Cities Cup semi-final second leg. Jack Charlton and Albert Johanneson were on target for Leeds as they levelled the tie up at 2-2. In those days, away goals did not count and a toss of a coin was used to decide where a replay would be played. Stand in skipper Jack Charlton won the toss for Leeds for the game to be played at Elland Road. Unfortunately, despite Charlton scoring for Leeds, they lost 3-1.
