*On this day in 1963, Leeds United finally played their FA Cup third round tie against Stoke City. It had taken two-months to get the game on due to one of the harshest winters in British history, as the tie was postponed on twelve occasions. It was worth the wait for Leeds who went through in a 3-1 win with Bobby Collins, Paul Reaney and Grenville Hair on target for the whites.

**On this day in 2001, Leeds were unlucky losers at Real Madrid in their Champions League group game.

Alan Smith gave Leeds the lead before Raul equalised with a blatant handball. Luis Figo then put Madrid ahead when his cross took an unbelievable bounce of the pitch to leave Nigel Martyn stranded. Mark Viduka scored for Leeds to bring them level only for Raul to head home the winner for Madrid.
