LUFC Monk – We Were Never Fully At It

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk was left frustrated after watching his side draw a blank in a goalless draw with Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road.

Leeds were well below their usual standards this season as Rangers nullified the Leeds attack whilst looking dangerous on the break.

Even the return of leading goalscorer Chris Wood failed to lift Leeds as they failed to produce a shot on target throughout the game. Leeds also had to be thankful to veteran keeper Rob Green, who was making his 600th league appearance, for keeping them in the game, as he denied Connor Washington in the first half and Monk felt his side were never at it during the game.

“The positives are it is a clean sheet and a point, but it is obviously frustrating,” Monk told the Leeds official website.

“We didn`t do enough to win the game, we were never fully at it from start to finish and we are frustrated with that, because we have been good at Elland Road.

“We have done very well in our home games, we haven`t had a performance like that in many home games this season.

“On all aspects we were below our usual levels, but we have a hard working group who will bounce back.”

Despite dropping points, Leeds moved a point further ahead of both Reading and Sheffield Wednesday in fifth and sixth place, who both lost on Saturday.

Fulham and Preston North End look the most dangerous sides from outside the play-off places. Fulham won 3-1 at top of the table Newcastle United whilst Preston beat Reading 3-0 at Deepdale.

Leeds must now prepare for a tough run of games with Brighton, Reading, Brentford, Preston and Newcastle the next five games.
