Leeds United boss Brian McDermott felt an early second half goal from Ross McCormack relieved the tension around Elland Road and spurred them to a crucial win over Yeovil Town.
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, McDermott said, “I thought it was a bit tense and edgy in the first half.
“We worked really hard and the players got their rewards.
“It was a tough game in the first half but that is the championship. We are trying to learn to win games as a group.
“We had to grind out a result and there was a lot of tension in the ground. Ross scored early in the second half and the tension was quickly relieved.”
The win over Yeovil, thanks to two goals from McCormack, lifts Leeds into eighth in the championship table and they are now just three points off a play-off place.
Whilst Leeds have now won three in a row at home, they must now convert their home form on the road.
Leeds have lost their last five in a row on their travels and they visit Charlton Athletic next Saturday.
The Addicks come into the game in good form and are unbeaten in their last five games and following their 1-0 win at Birmingham City on Saturday, they have now not conceded a goal in 447 minutes of football.
