Leeds United will be without duo Matthew Pennington and Eunan O’Kane for the clash with Sunderland.

The pair limped out of the 2-0 defeat at Fulham in midweek and will miss the clash at Elland Road.

With Liam Cooper already injured, Pennington’s injury leaves head coach Paul Heckingbottom short of cover in the centre of defence. Gaetano Berardi could play in the centre of defence or Leeds could hand a debut to youngster Paudie O’Connor.

Kemar Roofe could come back into the Leeds squad after he returned from injury this week. The forward has missed the last six games with a calf injury.

Luke Ayling, Conor Shaughnessy, Tyler Roberts, Adam Forshaw and Laurens De Bock all remain on the sidelines for Leeds.

Lamine Kone has returned to training for Sunderland after missing the last two games with a groin injury.

Jake Clarke-Salter returns to the Sunderland squad after completing his suspension.

Joel Asoro and Ovie Ejaria are pushing for a starting place after returning to the squad in the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Monday.

Tyias Browning, Billy Jones, Robbin Ruiter, Jonny Williams and Duncan Watmore all remain on the sidelines for the black cats, who are desperate for the three points in their fight against relegation.
