LUFC Leeds United Fan View v Wigan Athletic

I made my last away trip of the season to watch Leeds United bring the curtain down on their season at Wigan Athletic.

I give my view of the performance of the team in the 1-1 draw.

Green 7
A couple of decent blocks. He spent a lot of the game outside his area closing down the Wigan attackers with the defence disjointed.

Coyle 6
He tried to get forward but often his decision making let him down.

Bartley 6
A lack of communication at the back between him and Ayling at times, allowing Wigan players to waltz through. He looked nervy and very much unlike him this season.

Ayling 6
I didn`t think he looked comfortable in the centre.

Berardi 7
The usual Berardi performance. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Vieira 7
He looked the more composed player in midfield in the first half.

O`Kane 8 Star Man
He really drove us on in the second half and it was his run that won Leeds the penalty. I have to be honest, didn`t look like much contact from where I stood but that summed up an inept performance by the referee.

Hernandez 5
Another poor away performance. He has been one of the key players to go missing in the second half of the season.

Roofe 6
A poor first half, like many of his teammates. He improved after the break and he came close to giving Leeds the lead when his long-range shot hit the crossbar.

Wood 7
Once again, he was feeding off scraps in attack for Leeds. Fantastic to see him score his 30th goal of the season. I dread to think where we would have finished without his goals this season but we really need to find someone who can help him out in attack next season.

Dallas 6
A poor first half and he was much more involved in the second half before being substituted.

Subs

Pedraza 5

He failed to add anything to our attack.

Sacko 5
He came on for the final 20 minutes and it was his usual frustrating performance. He seemed to stand around and hold his position when he should have been getting forward when we attacked down the right.

Phillips 5
He came on for Vieira late on and failed to make any impact on the game.

Summary
A poor game that had the feeling of a pre-season game. The goal we conceded was a shocker to concede with the defence at sixes and sevens and they were like that most of the afternoon.

The performance typified Leeds for much of the season. A poor first half followed by an improved performance in the second half.

O`Kane has really given us some drive in the last two games and it makes you wonder why he wasn`t getting a game last month when we were struggling in midfield.

Finally, I have really enjoyed this season. The management, staff and team have really given us something to believe in again at Elland Road and for once, for most of the season we have concentrated on what has been happening on the pitch and not things off it.

The fans coming back to Elland Road and the atmosphere has reminded me of the days when we used to scare opposition to death when they visited.

We now have a massive summer ahead. I really hope we can sort out a new deal for Garry Monk and the ownership is sorted out really quickly. We have been playing catch up for far too many summers and this summer we need to be on the front foot and build for next season.
