Leeds United look like they have been priced out of any move for Coventry City midfielder Sammy Clingan.

Leeds have been linked with the Coventry captain over the past few weeks but Coventry chairman Ken Dulieu stressing the club would only accept a ‘ridiculous` offer.

With Leeds, chairman Ken Bates suffering from ‘short arms, deep pockets` syndrome that seemingly looks like its ruled Leeds out of the running.

Dulieu speaking in the Coventry Telegraph said, “If someone tried to get him on the cheap I would have to put an argument to the shareholders saying it would be madness to lose this guy.
‘I am not saying that I am not going to trade, because if there is a clever trade to do I promise you I will do it.”

Bates indicated in the week that Leeds were in negotiations with two midfielders about a move to Elland Road but as yet no news as come from the club.

Leeds have so far this summer brought in Michael Brown from Portsmouth whilst they have lost Neil Kilkenny and Bradley Johnson in the midfield department.

Simon Grayson might already feel he has his replacements for the out of contract duo with Adam Clayton impressing in midfield during pre season.

Leeds have still to make a decision on midfielder Alexandre Mendy who has been enjoying a trial at Elland Road for the past two weeks.
