Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has been called into the Scotland squad for their crucial World Cup qualifiers next month.

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan has rewarded the Leeds captain with a call-up after an impressive start to the season at Elland Road.

It is a second call-up to the Scotland squad for Cooper, who didn`t feature when he was called up in March.

Scotland face Slovakia and Slovenia knowing four points from the two games could be enough to secure them a play-off place for the finals in Russia next year.

They host Slovakia on Friday October 5th and then travel out to Slovenia for their final qualifier on Sunday October 8th.

Scotland are currently fourth in the group, one point behind Slovakia and level on points with Slovenia.
